Slamming It! is a national programme of writing, performance and spoken word workshops and live events for young people 10-18yrs. At the heart of Slamming It! is the Scottish Youth Poetry Slam where young people from across the country compete for the title of Scottish Youth Slam Master.
In 2025 we worked with young people 11-13yrs from seven groups from across the country; indochty Primary School, Moray; Cornton Primary School, Stirling; Hillhead Primary School, Glasgow; Sgoil na Coille Nuaidh, East Ayrshire; St Ninian's Episcopal Primary School, Perth; St. Joseph’s Primary School, Helensburgh; East Craigs Primary School, Edinburgh. To create poems and develop performance/presentation skills through eight hours of workshops. The young people performed their work at, the very good natured, Scottish Youth Poetry Slam event in front of 200+ young people in Perth Theatre October 2025.
Our host was Hannah Lavery and our judges were Beth Cochrane, Caitlin Sherret, Robin Cairns
