about
inspiration
conFAB was born out of the needs and experiences
of a group of writers, primarily poets, who have a need and desire
to create high quality work, pursing their own interests and artistic
focus whilst benefiting from the formal structure of an organisation.
aims
conFAB aims:
- To support grassroots writers of all mediums,
of all cultures and backgrounds to develop and produce their
own original work.
- To encourage and support a wide cultural diversity
especially in the production of work not considered commercial
by multinational standards that may well have a smaller or more
specific market.
- To produce a wide range of high quality text
based arts projects both locally and internationally, i.e. one
person poetic shows, cultural exchanges, support for self publication,
scripts from page to stage or film etc.
- To increase the production and consumption of
text based arts on a national to Scotland and international
basis, encouraging and contributing to a vibrant arts scene
locally and globally.
- To support the use of the written arts as a therapeutic
tool or medium with which to empower and provide new skills
for those currently excluded from such opportunities.
- To increase access to text based arts for all
through participation and attendance.
Structure
In order to meet these aims conFAB operates
a two branch structure.
Support:
To support and facilitate the needs of the writing community and
work in an outreach sense to raise awareness of issues and opportunities
relevant to those working with a text based medium.
Production:
To produce a wide range of work to a high artistic standard, from
a poet's solo show, through to publications, to theatrical productions
and films. These productions will stem from two sources: internal
conFAB initiatives and from ideas brought to conFAB from writers
or those working with a text based medium.
